Shelf Control |#1

Welcome to Shelf Control — an original feature created and hosted by Bookshelf Fantasies.

Shelf Control is a weekly celebration of the unread books on our shelves. Pick a book you own but haven’t read, write a post about it (suggestions: include what it’s about, why you want to read it, and when you got it), and link up!

Seeing as I have a lot of unread books on my shelf,I thought I’d do this meme to highlight books I have but haven’t read.

Hollow City by Ransom Riggs

I’m adding the description for the first book to you don’t get spoiled!
A mysterious island. An abandoned orphanage. A strange collection of very curious photographs. It all waits to be discovered in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, an unforgettable novel that mixes fiction and photography in a thrilling reading experience. As our story opens, a horrific family tragedy sets sixteen-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a deserted island for good reason. And somehow-impossible though it seems-they may still be alive. A spine-tingling fantasy illustrated with haunting vintage photography, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children will delight adults, teens, and anyone who relishes an adventure in the shadows.

I’ve had this book on my shelf for about a year I think. I’ve been wanting to read it for quite some time and just haven’t gotten to it. I think now would be the perfect time to read it as it’s cold and dark most of the time. Doesn’t the cover look so creepy?

Have you read this book? Which book has been on your shelf for the longest that you haven’t read?
